Jump Rope for Heart - February 13, 2009

Pleasant Ridge participates annually in this fun fundraiser for the American Heart Association.

Teams of six kids (or a few more or less), are now forming for this years Jump Rope For Heart at Pleasant Ridge. This years event will be on Friday afternoon February 13, 2009, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM in the PR Gym.

This year will mark the 21st year we've helped raise money for the American Heart Association to assist in their fight against heart disease and stroke. This voluntary community service activity has been a large part of the PR community each year, producing remarkable local, regional and national results. We have been in the top 10 nationally (out of 34,000 + events annually) for each of the last 6 years. Our top overall rank was third a few years ago.

In our "Small School" division (schools of a 250 to 700 kids size) we are the current national champ, a position we've held for the last 4 years. We are also the best in the country (2 years) when it comes to 'On-Line" donations and 4 years with the highest average per student.

Our "Jump" is supported by many local businesses, including the Subway on Waukegan (going on 1350 sandwiches donated), the Glenview Credit Union and Wildbirds Unlimited.

Our PTA also helps with healthy fruit and supervisory support and water bottles are purchased during our event in support of the Debrah Gelfan (sp) Fund.

Please encourage your student(s) to join us in this wonderful event. You are also welcome to help out in one or more of the many jobs that need to be done to continue the success of the "Jump". PTA volunteers help coordinate this event and provide oranges for the jumpers and sell water to the participants with the proceeds benefitting the Debra Gelfand Fund.
